About Awana

Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed

()

Awana is an international, Bible-centered youth ministry. We feel our Awana ministry is very important in reaching kids and families with the saving grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Our purpose and desire is that every child will know, love, and serve the Lord as we reach out to kids both in our community and our church. Awana is designed to allow children to have fun while training and teaching them to apply scriptural truths that last a lifetime. Activities include game time, crafts, music, and scripture memorization.

Caring committed volunteer leaders from our church nurture your children spiritually as Christian role models and teachers. Additionally, all of our volunteers have been approved and screened via background checks by Local and State Agencies and are approved to work with children.

WELCOME LETTER FALL 2016

Greetings,

It’s just impossible to believe that summer is almost over and cooler weather and the fall routines are here again.  We are delighted that you are entrusting your children to us to assist your efforts in training them in the scriptures through the AWANA program at church of the Open Door.  We have incorporated a few changes to our weekly program this year.  We will begin each week at 6:30 p.m. and will conclude at 8:00 p.m.  Cubbies will report directly to their team room, while Sparkies and T&Ts will go directly to the sanctuary for opening exercises including a time of music, pledges, awards, testimonies, and Bible lesson (Council time).  Following this time, they will be dismissed to team rooms for handbook time or gym.  Please remember to send your children to AWANA wearing sneakers – no cleats.

This year, we have incorporated a number of theme nights to our schedule.  Please refer to the calendar on the last page of your Parent’s Handbook to see these special nights.  Look for a letter the last Wednesday of each month, to check out the upcoming theme evenings.

Weekly Meetings

Meetings are held weekly on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. September through April. Special events and theme nights throughout the year help keep the clubber involved and have fun. See the AWANA Schedule Tab to see the meetings planned for this year.

Club Organization and Age Groups

We have prepared a parent handbook that describes our club in more detail, if you would like a handbook, please fill free to contact me or the church office. You can also check out AWANA’s web sight at www.awana.org for more information.
