Church of the Open Door

The Conduct in the Body of Christ by Dr. Glenn Jago

1 Thessalonians 5:1-11

In light of the promise of Christ’s return for his church, which is prior to the coming judgment on the day of the Lord, it became necessary for Paul to shepherd these believers through their confusion and fear over its timing. Paul, with his four progressive insights, reassures and exhorts believers to not fear concerning the day of the Lord but to live transformed by Christ and be encouraged and built up in preparation for Jesus to return. Now that is the conduct expected for those in the Body of Christ.

The believers conduct is:

  1. Motivated by Christ’s return– 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3
  2. Manifested by Christ’s transformation – 1 Thessalonians 5:4-5
  3. Marked by contrast – 1 Thessalonians 5:6-9
  4. Measured by Christ’s death – 1 Thessalonians 5:9-11
