Considering the Protection of God
Too often, we may find ourselves at a place where all hope is gone, and we are about to collapse under the weight of the conflict. Whenever a believer stands for Jesus Christ, there is no way to know from where the attack will come, but we are sure it will happen. In the moment of crisis, how well the believer knows God and is willing to trust Him will make all the difference. They will either believe in their ability or learn to depend on the Lord, who made heaven and earth (121:1-2). Insightfully, when Jesus Christ encountered a similar occasion, He intentionally relied on the will and protection of God the Father. For instance, in the garden, He told Peter, “Put your sword into its sheath; shall I not drink the cup that the Father has given me?” (John 18:11).
Thankfully, Psalm 124 provides the best way forward when under attack. In the face of disaster or threat, we must solely rely on the One who can bring victory by being rooted deeply in the Word of God. Instead of struggling in the flesh or seeking the finite, we must depend entirely on the one clear and sufficient solution, the sustaining protection and will of our Heavenly Father.
