Did you ever consider how dangerous it is to alter the truth of the Gospel? It would not need to be deliberately obvious, after all, some of the greatest threats could simply be from well-meaning people introducing a small addition to trusting in Jesus Christ. This could result in producing dependency on the law, fear, or discord rather than freedom.
The sacrifice of Christ, single-handedly, paid for our sins and provided the gift of salvation by faith, thereby setting us free to live for Christ. Paul, after having developed the doctrine of the Gospel, now presents, negatively and positively, the application by revealing what living deeply rooted in the Gospel actually looks like in thinking and living.
Because Christ set us free:
I. The crucial issue of freedom – Galatians 5:1
II. The challenge to freedom – Galatians 5:2-6
III. The conviction in freedom – Galatians 5:7-9
IV. The confidence from freedom – Galatians 5:10-12
