Church of the Open Door

The Gospel’s Application (Part 2) by Dr. Glenn Jago

Galatians 5:13-26

In order to provide an antidote to the poison of false teaching, Paul inoculates the believers with the truth for dealing with the tension that still exists because of living in the flesh. Yes, Paul was crucified with Christ and claimed, “It is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me,” but yet he admitted his struggle because of, “the life I now live in the flesh.” So, how is the believer to balance these two seemingly contradictory statements? Am I still a slave to sin? Am I free to live anyway I want? Is there a better option?

Paul develops two methods for dealing with the challenges which each believer may face in accurately dealing with our freedom in Christ.
Paul’s two methods:
I. The responsibility within freedom – Galatians 5:13-15
II. The resource for godly fruit – Galatians 5:16-26
