What is Man? by Dr. Glenn Jago

“What is Man?”

Genesis 1:26-2:3

The one who believes that God created everything and that we singularly were created in God’s image and likeness with distinct and unique purposes, will approach life differently than the one living from a humanistic/naturalistic philosophy. Genesis declares that humanity is more than a mere slave to the gods, more than an evolved animal, and different from an exalted god; humanity is the pinnacle of God’s creation living in an exalted position by declaration of God. The two questions this passage answers are: “What is man?” and “Why are we here?” The answers will greatly impact your perspective for living.

  1. Living according to God’s intention – Genesis 1:26-28 (What is man?)
  2. Living according to God’s provision – Genesis 1:29-31 (Why are we here?)
