    In their thinking, the Children of Israel believed they should be like all the other nations, so they demanded a king. In his thinking, Elijah believed he was the only true prophet alive, so, out of fear of Jezebel, he went into hiding. King Solomon believed he would find happiness in one more wife or concubine, so he clung to 700 wives and 300 concubines. Saul of Tarsus believed he was serving God implicitly, so he killed all who were believing and following Jesus Christ. What do all of these illustrations demonstrate? The power of thinking, leads to believing, which determines living; this can produce disastrous results.

    The Gospel’s Message: Righteousness by Faith Alone in Christ by Dr. Glenn Jago

    The reason we are to live deeply rooted in the Gospel is because: it alone deals with our sin through the sacrifice of Christ; it demonstrates its power by virtue of Satan’s all-out-effort to destroy the one preaching it; and it alone offers those believing in Christ a completely righteous standing and acceptance before God.

    The Gospel’s Power: Satan’s Attack against the Messenger (Part 2) by Dr. Glenn Jago

    If Satan can discredit the messenger of the Gospel, then he, in essence, believes he can hinder the power of that Gospel. We then, as messengers, need to understand that Satan will not stop his attack until he can discredit us, even if he has to fabricate a lie. Relevant to Paul’s own experience and testimony, we must know that even when Satan’s main objective is to discredit our testimony and defeat the work of God, we can stand strong against his attacks; but only when we stand in the power of the Gospel.

    The Gospel’s Power: Satan’s Attack against the Messenger by Dr. Glenn Jago

    Paul’s argument against Satan’s attack resolves the lie that his Gospel was too dependent on human origin to produce any authority for salvation. Paul, in sharing his story, sets out to explain why the Gospel he preached has power – because it is the Gospel from God; therefore, it is completely sufficient and effective to transform lives. In light of this, we need to be certain that the Gospel we are proclaiming is the one revealed by God.
